Windows 7 support ends on 14.1.2020

August 14, 2019

Microsoft went through on their promise about ending the support for their operating system Windows 7 10 years after release. With the official release of 22. october 2009 this time is soon coming to an end and the same also goes for the official Windows 7 support from Microsoft. They plan on lifting their hand away from this highly popular OS on 14. january 2020 so they “can focus on supporting new technologies and provide great new experiences”. After this date technical support and security updates from Windows Update will no longer be avaliable for the users of Windows 7. Microsoft recommends that all users upgrade to Windows 10 before this date and avoid any situations in the future that might require official support, which will no longer be avaliable.

What does the end of support mean for all users of Windows 7?

If you keep on using Windows 7 after 14. january 2020, you will no longer be able to benefit from all safety updates. Alongside this, Microsoft support will no longer be avaliable for all users of this operating system.

What can you do?

Microsoft recommends that everybody upgrades their OS to Windows 10.

James Lawless TD visits RECOSI, Ireland

September 29, 2016

James Lawless TD recently visited RECOSI’s Irish facility.

“Pay IT forward! Was great to visit RECOSI in Toughers Business Park, Naas this morning. As part of their social enterprise scheme they will donate a fully functioning, repurposed laptop to a worthy local group or individual in need. Get in touch if you know of anyone suitable. Recosi employ 17 people and they repurpose and reuse computer equipment to save it going to waste – huge amount of lost potential unless it can be harnessed by a company like this and I will be raising this at policy level to promote more repurposing.”

RECOSI and Applegreen

August 17, 2016

RECOSI worked with Applegreen recently to repurpose their redundant IT assets as part of our Pay IT Forward campaign – many thanks to Fiona and all in Applegreen.

‘Applegreen were delighted with the service provided by Recosi. Anthony and the team were punctual, meticulous and professional in the removal of all old IT stock.

Like many organisations in a demanding environment it can be hard to find the time to complete a stock clear-out. Through working with Recosi, Applegreen are satisfied that all stock will be sanitised and re-used appropriately.

Applegreen is known as a strong charitable organisation and as such are delighted that through donating to Recosi we are not only helping those with little or no accessibility to computers, we are also helping provide employment for people with disabilities.

I would highly recommend that any organisation will have a positive experience using Pay IT Forward with Recosi.
